JCI Europe Statement

We don’t live in the same world as we did a few days ago. The conflict and fighting in Ukraine have shocked and dismayed all of us.
Many of our members and their friends and family – both in Ukraine, and other parts of Europe – are facing incredible risks to their safety and freedom.
As an international organization with the core belief ‘that the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations’, we deeply feel their suffering. It is heartbreaking to see two of the principles in this line being broken; the brotherhood of men is threatened and the sovereignty of nations is being violated.
At JCI, we have always strived for peace across the world and we condemn the military aggression that threatens human rights. War is never the answer. Align with our principles and bases, we can be the living example of what does not happen outside, privileging everything that unites us, over what separates us.
We believe that ‘service to humanity is the best work of life’. JCI is a leadership development organization, and now is the time when we ask our members to embrace their duty to lead.
    • You can lead by standing for peace.
    • You can lead by standing for brotherhood.
    • You can lead by offering support and assistance to the people affected by this war.
    • You can lead by staying informed and relying on information from verified sources.
    • You can lead by sending hope to the ones who need it the most.
    • You can lead by keeping in touch with members of JCI Ukraine and offer them help and support by your Local or National Organization.
Help for Ukraine

“From within the walls of the soul of this organization, wherein the foundation of character and citizenship are laid, I hope a message will come forth in the sometime of tomorrow that will stir the people toward the establishment of a permanent and everlasting world peace.”

Henry Giessenbier Jr.
